A Grateful Heart for Christmas
Posted on December 19 2016
As I sit here this morning sipping my coffee, in my cute little Christmas mug, admiring the tree, finishing up some Christmas cards, and enjoying the quiet, I recognize how full my heart truly is. This is my good life. I am happy. I am content. I don’t want for anything. The holidays are a season of giving but they are also a season of gratefulness. While I love the giving aspect: buying for loved ones, wrapping presents, surprising a family in need with gifts for their children, it is the ability to give that makes me grateful. I am grateful for my family and loved ones, I am grateful for the ability to purchase gifts, I am grateful for the ability to help someone in need. The holidays have become based around consumerism and it is nice to just stop and enjoy the holidays for what they are. Just yesterday we had an abundance of gifts. We had dear friends come by so we could see their new baby girl. We had such a wonderful time catching up and just enjoying their company. What a fantastic gift that was! My husband, son, and I went to church then had a family trip to the grocery store (that was interesting) and came home and cooked a huge Sunday meal together! We fried a turkey, made oyster stuffing and mashed potatoes (we refer to this meal as the khaki plate) and just relished our time together and watched Elf! These are the holidays! And this is how I define my good life. This is what makes me happy. From my home to yours, best wishes for a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Blessed New Year! May your heart be full and grateful!
